I am also a keen fan of crochet - it's more transportable than a large quilt and I can throw a ball of wool into my bag when I'm out and about.

About Dillyflower QuiltsI started to sew quilts for fun and because I'm useless at painting! I love the process of choosing colours and patterns to produce individual quilts. All my quilts are made with 100% cotton fabrics, and the highest quality cotton-based batting.
The quilt tops are cut out by hand and then I machine each piece together, press every seam and assemble each top by laying the individual pieces out to create a pleasing blend of colour and pattern. The batting I use is the highest quality, it will soften with washing and shrink slightly, which gives the quilts a lovely texture. Each batting has specific requirements for quilting - some allow the stitching to be further apart than others, and I quilt carefully to ensure the batting will never shift or clump no matter how often the quilt it washed. Cheaper quilts using inferior fabrics and batting can end up faded, lumpy and limp, which is very disappointing if the quilt has been bought as a keepsake gift. The bindings are all double-folded and firstly machined on before being hand sewn on the reverse to secure them. On baby quilts I sometimes machine the binding on to make sure they stay put through the wear and tear of little hands tugging on them. |
Who We Are |
I am a quilter with 10 year's experience of sewing quilts primarily for family members; I have also made some quilts for friends, but the problem is I love the whole process from choosing the fabrics and block patterns to the final stitch on the binding, and parting with the quilts is like giving away a favourite child!! It's impossible to do! However, unless we buy a bigger house I'm going to have to grow a thicker skin and start to disperse them.
